Friction

The Causes of Friction

The strength of the force of friction depends on
        the types of surfaces involved
how hard the surfaces push together

    Types of Friction

Static Friction
force acting on object when not moving

requires more force to start the motion of the stationary object

Sliding Friction
two solid surfaces slide over each other

Rolling Friction
object uses a rolling action to move
acts to reduce the potential friction

Fluid Friction
            object moves through a fluid
sometimes acts to reduce the potential friction
