    formula:  Density equals mass divided by volume ( d=m/v)
 
 

            Mass    -amount of stuff (matter)  
        -measured by the triple-beam balance  
        -measured in grams (g)  
        -has a direct relationship with density if volume stays the same  
                if mass increases, density increases  
                if mass decreases, density decreases 
 

 
 

            Volume    -amount of space taken up  
      -measured by  
            displacement - for odd shaped objects  
            graduated cylinder - for liquid (read the amount of ml)  
            metric ruler - length x width x height for solid regular shaped objects  
      -measured in mL, or cm3  
       -has a indirect(inverse) relationship with density  
if mass stays the same  
         if volume increases, density decreases
