Third Grade Projects

 

September

Students organized their personal folder by creating a new folder and moving all of their second grade work into it. They were intoduced to the SpeedSkin keyboard covers. They are encouraged to use the correct fingering while typing and spend a portion of the session using the Type to Learn software. The Speed Skin covers discourage them from looking at their fingers. Some classes began working on a picture using Kid Pix demonstrating how matter changes. Students are taught to save the work in their folder to allow for completing it in the classroom. Students took the STAR reading assessment to determine their Accelerated Reading level.

October:

Students are using Accelerated Reader software to access their knowledge of literature they've read inside and outside of the classroom. They are word processing poems, stories, and paragraphs. They are saving their work in the folder on the server and printing out their finished work.

November:

Students continue to use Kid Pix to create picture that shows the way matter changes, type a simple description, save and print. They are using Kid Pix to creat a neighborhood map and label thestreets and points of interest. The map includes a legend and a compas rose. They learn to design the page so that it is legible, neat, and that all parts are spaced appropriately.

December:

They are continuing to complete the assignments based on the classroom curriculum.
