Second Grade Projects

 

September

Students reviewed the placement of letters on the keyboard. They used Microsoft Word to align their text. They centered, changed the font size and color of the text, they explored the right and left align tool. Poems were typed, saved and printed. Students took the STAR reading assessment to give a baseline assessment of their reading level.

October

Students will continue to explore the tools in Microsoft Word. They are using these tools to type poems. They are saving to their folder on the network server and printing their document. We learned about money using a teacher's PowerPoint presentation and then answering the questions. We brought our Social Studies CD in and explored Unit 6. We then drew a picture showing compassion and how we can help others. We used a spreadheet to calculate the money we spent on a shopping trip.

November:

Students continue to use Microsoft Word to type poems. They re learning how to highlight a section, change the font, size, and color. They are learning the correct way to save their work in their folders on the server and print the finish product. They drew pictures to display their knowledge of Johnny Appleseed, apples and products containing apples.

December:

Students continue to type classroom assignments. They are using the Social Studies CD as a suppliment to the textbook. They are creating graphics that display the knowledge learned in social studies and science.
