8. Main conflict in the book:
Benjamin McDonald, a boy six years old and small for his age, loves animals. He follows them around and makes noises like them. One day, he wanders off into the prairie following a chicken. He gets lost for many months and cannot find his way home. He survived the summer sharing the home with a badger which he had befriended. Everyday he became more animal like until he was copying the badgers every move until he is found.

9. Setting of the book: (place and time)

10. Main Characters and part they play in the book:
    (1) Benjamin McDonald: A small boy who spends most of his time with animals. He gets lost in the never ending prairie.

    (2) Badger: The badger that becomes friends with Ben and protects him.

11. Are the characters believable and interesting? I believe the characters are believable and interesting because the author describes them in a way just like real humans and animals.

12.  One excellent direct quotation from the book: (include who said it, page number, and
quotation marks!) Ben says to his father “If she … dies … would you help me bury her, Dad?” (207) I think this is a good quotation because it shows the new relationship that is starting to grow between Ben and his father.

13. Good reasons to read the book:
This book is very suspenseful and will keep you wanting to read it every minute you can. It is exciting to be reading about a boy who lives in the prairie for the whole summer with just a badger to live with.
