7. Student rating of the book (1 the highest, 5 the lowest): 1

8. Main conflict in the book: Fletcher Moon, known as Half Moon because of his size, attempts to solve a mystery. During his investigating, he is attacked and taken to the hospital. He tries to take a picture of his arm, which has the name Red spelled on it from the indentation on the hurtle he was attacked with. So he leaves the hospital unnoticed, but is knocked out once again and is blamed for setting May Devereux’s Irish dancing dress on fire. Now that he is framed of stealing a few items and burning May’s dress, he must prove himself innocent before he is taken to Juvi by the police.

9. Setting of the book: (place and time) Fletcher’s house, Saint Jerome’s Elementary and Middle school, and the Sharkey’s house, all in Ireland, sometime in the 2000’s.

10. Main Characters and part they play in the book:
(1) Fletcher Moon, the main character, twelve year old detective, considered a nerd, framed of being an arsonist.
(2)Red Sharkey, misunderstood of being a bully, actually sensitive and caring, born into a criminal family, helps Fletcher with the mystery.

11. Are the characters believable and interesting?
Yes, they are just like almost everyone else in the world, girly girls, popular people, nerds, and bullies. All the characters have a special background to them, and have their own story.

12. One excellent direct quotation from the book: (include who said it, page number, and use quotation marks!)
“Sorry, Red. I haven’t been myself. I’ve been trying to be someone else, but it hasn’t worked out.” (pg. 289) Fletcher Moon

13. Good reasons to read the book: I couldn’t put the book down until my parents forced me to stop. I never knew what would happen next and the book had many unexpected surprises. It is very interesting, entertaining and very realistic. I will never regret my decision to read this book.

14. Any reasons not to read the book? The only thing not excellent about this book is that someone might become lost within one of the chapters and have no idea what is going on at all.

15. Did you like this book or not? And why….
I loved this book! It is amazingly interesting and has almost no faults except having to read it again because it is so hard to understand it all in one try. It has wonderful details and is almost impossible to put down. I always just needed to know what happened next in the mystery. Over all, this is definitely one of the best books I have ever read.
