4.Author of Book: Roald Dahl
5. Year the Book was published: 1964
6. Genre: Fantasy
7. Student Rating of Book (1 the highest, 5 the lowest): 1.5
8. Main Conflict in the book:
Charlie Bucket is a poor, ragged boy who lives with his Mom, Dad and his four grandparents. Then one day while eating a chocolate Wonka candy bar he saw a golden ticket in the wrapper. It was one of five invitations to Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
9. Setting of book: The main setting of the book is Mr. Wonka’s Chocolate Factory with a couple of scenes in Charlie’s house.
10.Main characters and part they play in the book:
Charlie Bucket our hero, Grandpa Joe one of two of Charlie’s Grandpas’ and Mr. Wonka the owner of the Chocolate Factory.
11. Are the characters believable and interesting?
Charlie is believable because he is a kind and loving boy who will help with anything even if he can’t fix it. Grandpa Joe is believable because he is like any other Grandpa but interesting because he, a 96 and a half year old man, jumped out of bed and started dancing when he realized Charlie had found the Golden Ticket. Mr. Wonka is not believable because I’ve never seen anyone so strange, but he is extremely interesting because he has so many ways of making candy.
12. One excellent direct quotation from the book:
Mr. Wonka suddenly exploded with excitement. “But my dear boy,” he cried out “ that means you’ve won!” (pg. 149).
13. Good reasons to read the book:
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, thrills, adventure and candy. Charlie was a smart, cheerful little boy who had a good heart and if you like stories with a good ending then keep Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in mind.
14. Any reasons not to read the book:
If you don’t like fantasy or candy (I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like candy) I suggest not even thinking about and take it out of your back pocket and give it to someone else.
15. Did you like this book or not. And why…
I liked this book not just for the candy, but how it taught me how to not be greedy and complain, but to wait, have patience and soon everything will fall into place.
